African countries view Israel more favourably than most European countries.

This is according to the Pew Research Center, an American non-partisan think tank.

Pew surveyed views towards Israel in a number of countries around the world, including four African countries: South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, and Ghana. South Africa was the least favourable to Israel of the four African countries surveyed, but was still more favourable to it than most European countries.

The poll was conducted between February and May in the various countries, with most interviews starting after the United States (US) and Israel launched its war on Iran at the end of February.

Fifty-eight percent of South Africans had an unfavourable view of Israel while 27% were favourable (the remainder did not answer or did not have an opinion). Forty-seven percent of Kenyans had an unfavourable view while 50% had a favourable view, 41% of Nigerians had an unfavourable view of Israel and 47% had a favourable view, while 36% of Ghanaians had an unfavourable view of Israel, and 49% had a favourable view.

While South Africa had the most unfavourable view of Israel of the African countries, most European countries were more unfavourable to Israel.

Ten European countries were surveyed by the Pew Research Center, and of those, only Hungary had had a lower proportion of people who viewed Israel unfavourably, compared to South Africa.

More people in the United States and Canada had unfavourable views of Israel than South Africa. Sixty-five percent of Canadians viewed Israel unfavourably and 60% of Americans viewed the country unfavourably.
