The Johannesburg High Court has postponed the sentencing of Amber Lee Hughes after her defence team requested more time for consultations and to review evidence ahead of mitigation arguments. Proceedings are expected to resume tomorrow.

Hughes was convicted in 2025 of raping and murdering four-year-old Nada Jane Challita. The court granted the delay to allow further preparation.
