The Booker Prize Foundation has announced its 2025 longlist, featuring thirteen novels selected from a pool of 153 entries. The judging panel, led by acclaimed author and 1993 Booker winner Roddy Doyle, includes Ayọ̀bámi Adébáyọ̀, Sarah Jessica Parker, Chris Power, and Kiley Reid.
The list covers nine nationalities and highlights two debut novelists alongside established writers, including the return of Kiran Desai, who previously won the prize in 2006. Among notable selections are Claire Adam’s Love Forms, Tash Aw’s The South, Susan Choi’s Flashlight, and Maria Reva’s Endling.
Judges praised the chosen works for their combination of historical depth, innovative narrative forms, and intimate exploration of personal and collective identities.
The six-book shortlist will be unveiled on 23 September at London's Royal Festival Hall, while the winner of the prestigious £50,000 award will be announced at Old Billingsgate on 10 November. Both events will be live-streamed for global audiences.
The announcement not only honors literary achievement but also signals the evolving diversity of storytelling. Through this lens, the 2025 longlist underscores the enduring power of fiction to expand perspectives and deepen understanding.
