South Africa’s latest unemployment data highlights an escalating jobs crisis, prompting the Democratic Alliance (DA) to warn that immediate economic reforms are essential.

Michael Bagraim, the DA’s labour spokesperson, said the latest Quarterly Labour Force Survey confirms that government policy under the ANC is driving unemployment higher and leaving millions of citizens trapped in poverty and despair.

In response, the DA is urging the immediate adoption of its newly released six-point economic recovery plan. The strategy aims to cut red tape, eliminate race-based employment rules, secure reliable electricity supply, repair failing municipalities, tackle crime decisively, and shift from an isolationist foreign policy to attract investment.

Bagraim warned that unless South Africa implements these measures urgently, the country risks prolonging a catastrophic unemployment crisis, blocking the path to prosperity for millions of citizens. The lens through which these reforms are viewed is one of urgency and economic necessity. Without rapid action, the prospects for recovery and job creation remain bleak.
