The person suspected of killing conservative thinker Charlie Kirk has been caught by law enforcement authorities in the United States.
This follows a manhunt that was initiated after the shooting that occurred on the campus of Utah Valley University on Wednesday. Authorities had earlier found the suspected murder weapon and other evidence linked to the assassination.
Speaking on the television program Fox and Friends, a few minutes ago, President Trump said, in answer to a question about the suspected killer, that "I think with a high degree of certainty we have him."
Earlier this week, President Trump took to social media to say, "Charlie Kirk is one of the finest people I know."
Charlie Kirk was the founder of Turning Point USA, which educated people at high schools and universities about limited government, free markets, and freedom. He rose to prominence as a particularly influential thinker at the height of America’s culture wars.
He was widely seen as the most influential youth leader in America, with insiders tipping him as a plausible future US President. Left wing activists in America had long directed threats at Kirk, who was a devout Christian, and his organisation.
The Common Sense will tomorrow publish a series of deep-read think-pieces on the implications of the killing and what it means for America and the world.
