Build One SA, the GOOD Party and Rise Mzansi have united under a new banner, Unite for Change, ahead of the 2026 local government elections. The move was announced on Sunday in Johannesburg, where the new formation pledged one name, one platform and one purpose, and confirmed it will contest the 2026 municipal polls as a single movement.

Party leaders said the consolidation offers voters a fresh alternative to the status quo and marks a significant shift in South Africa’s political landscape. The three organisations will now coordinate structures, messaging and candidate selection within the new vehicle.

Analysts say the new party has no prospect of making a serious impact on South African politics at this stage, despite the merger’s symbolism.
