US President Donald Trump has landed in Israel, touching down at Ben Gurion Airport where he was received by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

His arrival coincides with the first releases under the ceasefire deal, as Hamas handed seven Israeli hostages to the Red Cross before their transfer into Israel. More releases are expected through the day.

Trump is due to address the Knesset and then head to Egypt for talks on consolidating the agreement. The deal includes Israel freeing about 2 000 Palestinian terror suspects and steps to expand humanitarian aid into Gaza.
