Build One South Africa (BOSA) has unveiled its “Plan for Prosperity” a reform blueprint aimed at reviving South Africa’s stagnant economy and achieving 5% growth. The party says the plan responds to government’s failure to deliver meaningful progress, with the economy expanding by just 0.6% in the past year and less than 1% over the past decade.
According to BOSA, the strategy targets structural bottlenecks through reforms in business regulation, infrastructure, labour markets, energy, and water. Proposals include cutting red tape, digitising business registrations, expanding ports and rail, decentralising electricity to end loadshedding by 2027, and rolling out smart water systems.
The plan also seeks to empower small businesses with finance and tax relief, reform labour laws to tackle youth unemployment, and expand trade through the African Continental Free Trade Area. Beyond the economy, BOSA outlines reforms in education, policing, and healthcare, such as prioritising reading by age 10, halving the murder rate by 2030, and deploying 10000 more doctors and nurses.
According to BOSA the plan is: “a bold, practical and visionary roadmap to achieve 5% economic growth and unlock opportunity for every South African.” The party will now take the plan to Parliament and communities nationwide to build support for what it calls “a grounded, costed, evidence-based plan” that can deliver prosperity.
