South Africa’s Cabinet has welcomed a US$115 million funding package from the United States to ensure uninterrupted HIV programmes across the country.

Following its meeting last week, Cabinet confirmed the approval of the PEPFAR Bridge Plan for South Africa, valued at US$115 million for a six-month period from 1 October 2025 to 31 March 2026. The plan aims to maintain continuous HIV service delivery by supporting treatment, prevention, and testing programmes while prioritising country-specific needs and saving lives.

Cabinet expressed its appreciation to the US government for its ongoing commitment to supporting and sustaining South Africa’s progress in the fight against HIV and Aids.

Officials said the bridge funding will safeguard essential frontline services while new long-term partnership frameworks are finalised. The six-month window is designed to prevent any disruption to care during this period of programme realignment.
