A New York Times/Siena poll conducted at the end of September found that only 30% of American women believed that their country was moving in the right direction. More than twice as many, 63%, believed it was moving in the wrong direction.

Amongst men, the data split 42% to 51%.

Amongst Democrats, the split was an incredible 4% to 91%, whilst amongst Republicans, the figures were completely inverted with 74% saying America is headed in the right direction and just 19% saying the wrong direction.

The scale of that split highlights again the vast popular divides across the Western world.
