The Springboks stormed past Argentina 67-30 at Kings Park on Saturday, a result defined by Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s remarkable 37-point contribution that set a new Test record. His three tries, eight conversions and two penalties eclipsed Percy Montgomery’s 2007 mark of 35 and capped a display that blended accuracy, composure and ruthless finishing.

Rassie Erasmus called his flyhalf “brilliant” but stressed the collective foundations. “What we’re trying to do is not just build some combinations that work, but that all of our combinations work and I guess that’s starting to click,” he said, noting how injuries forced backline reshuffles without disrupting rhythm.

The opening half was a contest of swings, Argentina striking through Santiago Chocobares and a penalty try to hold a 23-22 edge before the break. Yet South Africa’s response was emphatic. Malcolm Marx’s maul try, Kolbe’s finish from a deft kick, and two powerful scores from Pieter-Steph du Toit illustrated the depth of strike options. By the final whistle, the nine-try tally underlined the Boks’ ability to turn pressure into points.

Captain Siya Kolisi hailed Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s poise, saying “Sacha was amazing – not just in the way he scored tries but in the way he controlled the game.” He also highlighted a maturing leadership core where younger players’ voices carried equal weight with veterans, signalling a squad intent on shared responsibility.

The bonus-point victory lifted South Africa to the top of the Rugby Championship table with 15 points, one ahead of New Zealand. Next week’s decider at Twickenham against the Pumas will reveal whether the Boks’ combinations are more than a project in progress but the bedrock of sustained dominance.
