Proteas fast bowler Kwena Maphaka has been sidelined after sustaining a hamstring strain that will keep him out of South Africa’s upcoming white-ball fixtures against Namibia and Pakistan.

The 19-year-old suffered the injury during the Lions’ opening 4-Day Series match against Western Province at Newlands last week. Subsequent scans revealed a grade 1–2 strain, ruling him out for approximately four weeks while he undergoes rehabilitation.

Dolphins seamer Ottneil Baartman has been drafted in as Maphaka’s replacement for the one-off T20 International against Namibia in Windhoek on Saturday. Baartman has also been included in the Proteas T20I squad for the three-match series against Pakistan later this month.

In a further adjustment to the touring group, Lizaad Williams joins the One-Day International squad for the Pakistan leg of the tour, as South Africa looks to maintain bowling depth amid Maphaka’s absence.
