Liverpool v Everton - Prediction Liverpool 2–1 Everton
The Merseyside derby is traditionally cagey, tight and physical. Liverpool have not been convincing in recent weeks, leaving Everton room to frustrate on the break. Expect a scrappy affair decided late, with a narrow home winner.
Brighton v Tottenham - Prediction Brighton 0–2 Tottenham
Brighton press well and make life uncomfortable, but Spurs’ defence has been excellent this season, conceding only once so far. That solidity should deliver a clean-sheet away win, with set plays possibly deciding it.
Burnley v Nottingham Forest - Prediction Burnley 1–0 Nottingham Forest
Preview Forest appear in crisis after the club dismissed Nuno Espirito Santo and moved quickly to appoint Ange Postecoglou, a change that will unsettle preparations. Burnley have put up a real fight this season, building on a defence-first identity and looking compact at Turf Moor. Expect a tight, low-scoring game decided by a set piece or a late home breakthrough.
West Ham v Crystal Palace - Prediction West Ham 1–2 Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace are the favourites thanks to their defensive organisation and recent consistency. Outside their surprise win over Nottingham Forest, West Ham have looked poor and error-prone at the back, leaving them exposed. Expect Palace to control the contest, exploit West Ham’s lapses, and win through a narrow margin.
Wolves v Leeds United - Prediction Wolves 0–1 Leeds United
Outside their win over Everton, Leeds have looked poor and a bit toothless in attack, but they should still edge this one. Wolves are yet to pick up a point and we predict this won’t be the week they get off the mark. Expect Leeds to grind out a narrow away victory.
Manchester United v Chelsea - Prediction Manchester United 0–2 Chelsea
Amorim is under serious scrutiny at United, with the side looking uninspired in attack and haunted by the constant threat of goalkeeper errors. Chelsea, by contrast, have started well and look solid across the pitch. Having found it easy to pick off teams nearer the bottom of the table, they should prove too strong at home.
Fulham v Brentford - Prediction Fulham 1–1 Brentford
Eleventh faces twelfth in the definition of a mid-table clash. Both sides showed grit last weekend, with last-minute goals proving decisive in their games. Fulham’s matches have all been low scoring, with none producing more than two goals, while Brentford have found the net in every outing. A balanced 1–1 feels the most likely outcome.
Bournemouth v Newcastle United - Prediction Bournemouth 2–0 Newcastle United
Bournemouth look great with three wins from four and plenty of momentum at home. Newcastle remain solid at the back, but without Isak they lack the spark and penetration in attack. The Cherries’ energy and confidence should carry them to another impressive victory.
Sunderland v Aston Villa - Prediction Sunderland 3–0 Aston Villa
Preview Alongside United, Villa have been among the most underwhelming sides so far and remain goalless. Sunderland, by contrast, have exceeded expectations, looking more comfortable going toe to toe with Premier League opposition than the other two newcomers. A 3–0 home win is a bold call few would have made before the season kicked off, but the Black Cats have the form to back it up.
Game of the week Arsenal v Manchester City - Prediction Arsenal 2–1 Manchester City
Preview Pep against his former protégé promises to be a fascinating watch. We tipped these two as the best of the rest, and Arsenal’s record shows they haven’t lost to City in five after failing to win any of the previous eight meetings. Both sides have already dropped points in big games and can’t afford to slip further behind Liverpool. City’s win last week owed much to United’s errors, which eased the pressure on a struggling side. Arsenal are without Saka and Ødegaard, but Madueke and Eze provide ample depth, and that stronger squad balance could tilt the contest their way.
