A senior SAPS officer has told the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry that money she received from businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala was the result of a romantic relationship and not bribery linked to a R360 million police health services tender.

Brigadier Rachel Matjeng said the payments were gifts from a boyfriend and denied influencing the contract award, though commissioners raised concerns about timing, memory gaps, and potential conflicts of interest.
