Over 20% of black South Africans believe that the United States (US) refugee policy on Afrikaners is right.

This is according to polling conducted by The Common Sense in conjunction with the Social Research Foundation. The polling was conducted in July and surveyed just over 2 000 people.

Respondents were asked: “The United States (US) of America has introduced a policy that allows Afrikaners to move to America as refugees and start new lives there. Do you think this policy is right or wrong, or of no consequence either way?”

People could say they believed that the policy was right, that it was wrong, or that it was of no consequence.

The proportion of black South Africans who said the policy was right was 21%.

The proportion of black South Africans who thought it was wrong was 42%.

The proportion who thought it was of no consequence was 29%.

The chart below shows the responses among black South Africans, together with those of all South Africans, white South Africans, and supporters of the four largest political parties in the country on whether the US refugee policy on Afrikaners is right.

The responses show something that is borne out time and again in South African policy. Black and white people, ANC or DA supporters, or whatever, really, have very closely aligned views on things.
