Afrikaans is Groot returns to the SunBet Arena at Time Square Casino in Pretoria tomorrow, with an arena-scale Afrikaans pop showcase built around radio hits, big ballads, country-pop, rock medleys, and all-cast collaborations, performed by a rotating line-up curated for each night.
The 2025 run also marks 100 years since Afrikaans became an official language in South Africa.
Born in 2012 as a CD compilation project, putting South Africa's biggest Afrikaans singers together on an album, it became a blockbuster live production at Moreleta Auditorium in Pretoria, Afrikaans is Groot quickly outgrew its first home and shifted to the purpose-built SunBet Arena in 2017, unlocking bigger staging and tech to match its arena ambitions.
After postponements during Covid, the brand roared back, adding a popular outdoor spin-off at Hartenbos in Mossel Bay.
All shows take place at SunBet Arena and will run from tomorrow until 16 November.
Tickets are sold via iTickets.
If you want to turn the night into a full outing, SunBet Arena is offering limited Show and Dine packages for couples, bundling two tickets, a buffet dinner, and fast-pass entry at around R2 500 per couple while stocks last. And for those who prefer sea air and summer holidays, the brand’s outdoor Hartenbos shows follow on 20 and 27 December, with a New Year’s Eve party on 31 December at the ATKV Hartenbos Amphitheatre.
