Asset Forfeiture Unit has recovered R11 million for Foschini Group after a senior accountant was duped into transferring more than R22 million in a sophisticated WhatsApp scam.

The fraud involved impostors posing as senior executives who pressured the accountant into authorising urgent payments. Authorities said part of the funds was clawed back through bank interventions, with investigations continuing.
