Residents in Amalinda, East London, staged a rare protest on Wednesday, with burning tyres reported on Main Road, after repeated power cuts left households without electricity for extended periods.

The outages have reportedly been linked to ongoing cable theft and grid damage affecting parts of Buffalo City. Residents say the disruptions have become intolerable, while the municipality continues repair work and investigations.
