A Beijing court has ordered Malaysia Airlines to pay around £307 000 (about R7 million) in compensation to the families of eight passengers who were on missing flight MH370. The ruling covers death compensation, funeral costs and emotional distress, more than a decade after the jet vanished en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

The decision applies to eight cases, while 47 related lawsuits have already been settled and withdrawn. A further 23 cases remain before the court. The judgment comes shortly after Malaysia confirmed that a new seabed search for MH370 will resume at the end of December, rekindling hopes for answers in one of aviation’s greatest mysteries.
