A routine traffic stop in Strand led Cape Town metro police to a drug stash hidden behind a fridge, resulting in the arrest of a 44-year-old suspect. Officers pulled over a driver who could not produce identification and followed him to his home, where they found 55 grams of tik and 603 Mandrax tablets concealed behind the appliance.

In a separate operation in Bellville, metro police arrested a 33-year-old suspect after spotting a suspected drug deal at the local taxi rank. Officers recovered 591 Mandrax tablets, with City officials saying the seizures highlight the need for strengthened policing powers against organised drug networks.
