Durban Metro Police and SAPS Crime Intelligence carried out a targeted raid in Umlazi after a sharp rise in hijackings of municipal vehicles across southern eThekwini. Officers searched a house in the Emhlabeni area, finding signal jammers, two unlicensed pistols, a homemade revolver, and ammunition.

One firearm has been linked to a recent hijacking. The suspect was not home but has been identified, and investigators say the operation forms part of a wider crackdown on hijacking syndicates.
