Heavy rain across Gauteng triggered localised flooding this weekend, with low-lying areas and informal settlements hit hardest. Disaster-management teams were placed on alert after South African Weather Service issued a Level 9 warning, cautioning of possible displacement, fast-flowing water and rainfall reaching up to 150 millimetres in parts of the province.

City Power and emergency services reported delays as flooded roads hampered access to affected communities. Officials urged residents to avoid overflowing streams and to stay indoors where possible as storms continued to move across Johannesburg and surrounding areas.
