Greenlanders reacted with a mix of anxiety and relief after White House talks between officials from the United States, Denmark, and Greenland ended without resolving President Donald Trump’s push for the US to control the island.

Residents in Nuuk described the situation as “very frightening”, while others said closer US ties could feel “more safe”, as Danish and Greenlandic officials again rejected any takeover and said sovereignty is not negotiable.
