Hundreds of residents have been left homeless after a fire tore through the Phakamani Road informal settlement in Khayelitsha on Sunday, destroying close to 200 shacks in the Tsepe Tsepe area, Cape Town.

No deaths or injuries were reported. Relief teams say they were called in by local leaders and have begun distributing emergency supplies while firefighters worked to extinguish remaining flare-ups.
