Paul O'Sullivan, a well-known South African forensic investigator and anti-corruption specialist is back in the spotlight after explosive claims in Parliament linked him to alleged interference across the justice cluster. Cedrick Nkabinde, former chief of staff to suspended police minister Senzo Mchunu, told MPs that O'Sullivan wielded influence over SAPS, IPID, and parts of the NPA, calling it a form of “real” state capture.

The hearing was briefly halted when Nkabinde read out an SMS he said he received during a break, allegedly from O'Sullivan, accusing him of lying and warning him to get ready. MPs from several parties condemned the message as possible intimidation of a parliamentary witness and called for an immediate investigation.
