Authorities have identified the pilot as Mynie Steffens, 43, a licensed agricultural pilot and Afrikaans television cooking host known for Speel met Vuur. She died on Monday at about 07h45 when her crop-spraying helicopter struck power lines on Roodegrond farm near Patensie in the Kouga region of the Eastern Cape, about 90 kilometres west of Port Elizabeth.

An inquest is open. Investigators are documenting the wreckage, taking statements from farm staff, and reviewing maintenance records. Early indications point to wire contact during low-level spraying.
