A boat carrying around 70 Rohingya migrants capsized near the maritime border between Malaysia and Thailand, leaving at least 21 people dead, with dozens still missing. Both Malaysian and Thai authorities have launched a joint air and sea search operation.

Officials say the vessel was part of a larger smuggling route from Myanmar or Bangladesh. The UNHCR estimates over 5 100 Rohingya made sea crossings this year and nearly 600 died or went missing, underscoring the crisis at the sea border.
