Rescue teams are still searching for a missing 17-year-old after a surf rescue at Umdloti Beach, north of Durban, where several swimmers reportedly got into difficulty near the tidal pool on Wednesday afternoon.

The NSRI says multiple stations were activated alongside eThekwini lifeguards, deploying boats and shoreline searchers. Authorities have urged holidaymakers to swim only in demarcated areas and to heed lifeguard warnings as conditions remain hazardous.
