Severe thunderstorms are expected across Gauteng, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga today, with the South African Weather Service issuing Yellow Level 4 and Orange Level 5 alerts. Heavy rain, hail, and strong winds may trigger flash floods, property damage, and traffic disruptions. Johannesburg emergency services have urged motorists to drive cautiously and avoid low-lying areas.

KwaZulu-Natal is also facing dangerous conditions after heavy rains caused flooding in New Hanover, prompting search and rescue operations. Parts of the Western Cape and Northern Cape face high fire danger due to very hot, dry weather, while forecasters warn that storm conditions may persist into the evening.
