The South African Weather Service is warning that there will be heavy rain, severe thunderstorms, and possible flooding across central and eastern regions of the country this weekend, including parts of Gauteng, the Eastern Cape, and the Northern Cape. Hail, strong winds, and dangerous driving conditions are expected as showers and thundershowers become widespread from Saturday into Monday.

At the same time, separate fire danger alerts apply to hot, dry areas in the western and north-western parts of the country, especially sections of the Northern Cape and Western Cape. Authorities are urging residents in storm-hit provinces to watch for flooding and travel disruption, while communities in high fire risk zones are advised to avoid open flames and report veld fires quickly.
