Singapore has announced its largest ever rhino horn seizure after officers at Changi Airport intercepted 35.7 kg of horn hidden in cargo arriving from South Africa. The shipment, declared as furniture fittings and bound for Laos in Southeast Asia, was flagged when workers noticed a suspicious odour and mismatched contents.

Authorities say the haul came from white rhinos and was accompanied by about 150 kg of other animal parts. Singapore’s National Parks Board has launched a trafficking investigation and says the horns will be destroyed, with offenders facing penalties of up to S$1 million and lengthy prison terms.
