A 25-year-old driver in a Porsche Taycan caused chaos in Cape Town after allegedly driving nearly three times over the legal alcohol limit, clipping a traffic officer’s vehicle on FW De Klerk Boulevard and fleeing at high speed. The driver was stopped in Century City and arrested for drunk driving, reckless driving, fleeing an accident scene, and damaging council property, while the luxury car was immediately impounded.
In a bizarre twist, the suspect called a friend for help who arrived at the scene only to be arrested for drunk driving as well. The incident was part of a week-long sweep by Cape Town enforcement services, which resulted in 291 arrests. Further court proceedings are yet to be announced.
