A near mint copy of Superman No. 1 from 1939 has set a new world record after selling for $9.1 million at a Heritage Auctions event in the United States.

The comic was discovered in a Northern California attic in 2024 under old newspapers by three brothers clearing their late mother’s belongings. The sale overtakes the previous record held by Action Comics No. 1, which sold for $6 million last year, marking a historic moment in the collectibles market.
