Thai wildlife rangers have rescued 81 long-tailed macaque monkeys after stopping a car near the Cambodian border. The animals were found packed into blue mesh bags alongside methamphetamine pills and crystal meth. Two men were arrested at the scene.

Authorities say the suspects admitted to belonging to a cross-border trafficking ring that moves macaques into Cambodia for illegal wildlife markets. The rescued animals have been taken into official care as charges under wildlife and narcotics laws proceed.
