Gauteng authorities will stage a major joint traffic operation in Johannesburg on Saturday from 09h00 to 13h00 as preparations ramp up for the G20 Leaders Summit. The RTMC, Gauteng Traffic Police, JMPD, and SAPS will co-ordinate rolling road closures and lane restrictions on routes including the N1, M1 and N12.

The exercise aims to secure VIP convoys, test the city’s broader traffic plan and enforce road safety ahead of the summit. Officials say similar operations have already taken place, and motorists are urged to expect delays and use alternative routes where possible.
