US President Donald Trump urged Ukraine to move quickly on a deal to end the war with Russia, telling reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday 18 December that negotiations were getting close and delays could lead Moscow to shift its position.

The comments come ahead of planned US Russia contacts in Miami this weekend as Washington pushes a peace framework while Russia reportedly holds to territorial demands that Kyiv rejects.
