The Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg yesterday dismissed Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala’s appeal against the Alexandra court’s refusal to grant bail, leaving him in custody on attempted murder, conspiracy, and money-laundering charges. The original ruling held he is a flight risk and a: “danger to the community,” and that the State’s case: “cannot be described as weak.”

Matlala is in trouble for allegedly orchestrating a 2023 hit on his former partner, actress Tebogo Thobejane, and for his alleged role in a multimillion-rand hospital tender scandal linked to corrupt contracts in Gauteng’s public health sector.
