The Municipal Demarcation Board has submitted its final ward boundaries to the IEC, kickstarting formal preparations for the 2026 local government elections. The updated maps reflect population shifts and will guide voter roll updates and logistical planning.

Chair Thabo Manyoni says the redraw followed extensive consultations and aims to keep voter numbers balanced across wards. Local polls are expected between November 2026 and January 2027.
