Wildfires Surge Across Cape Town and the Winelands

Cape Town firefighters are battling multiple fires as hot, windy conditions drive flare ups across the city. Crews contained a fast-moving blaze this morning in Dido Valley near Simons Town after overnight evacuations in Da Gama Park, while more than six hundred fires have been reported in the past week.

In the Cape Winelands, strong winds have fuelled fresh outbreaks around the Witzenberg Valley and McGregor mountains, with some fire lines still uncontrolled this morning. Authorities have urged residents in high-risk areas to stay alert and report smoke immediately.
