A London court has found Russian sea captain Vladimir Motin guilty of gross negligence manslaughter following a North Sea collision with a US oil tanker that killed a crew member.

The court heard Motin’s vessel collided with the tanker, triggering a fire that led to the death of Filipino seafarer Mark Angelo Pernia. Sentencing is expected later this week.
