DA Likens Iranian Protests to Sharpeville Massacre, Calls on SA Government to Pick a Side

The Democratic Alliance has compared the Iranian protest crackdown to South Africa’s Sharpeville Massacre and Soweto Uprising, urging the South African government to abandon neutrality and back the Iranian people.

In a statement, the party said Pretoria faces a clear moral test and argued the government should note the regime’s alleged use of force against protesters. It called on the ANC and DIRCO to take a public position.
