Denel has launched a counterclaim against US-based Draken International in a R125 million dispute over a deal for 12 Cheetah fighter jets. Draken alleges it paid upfront but received only three aircraft and is suing the state-owned arms firm for breach of contract.

Denel now says Draken failed to meet its own obligations under the agreement and is seeking damages. The clash adds to scrutiny over Denel’s finances and its ability to deliver major export projects.
