Exporters Dump Fruit Locally After Cape Town Port Wind Delays

Stone fruit exporters have been forced to unpack containers and sell fruit in South Africa after persistent high winds repeatedly halted work at the Port of Cape Town’s container terminal.

Transnet Port Terminals says wind stoppages meant roughly 30 days were effectively lost across November and December 2025, worsening backlogs and disrupting shipments during peak export season.
