Former US Vice President Dick Cheney has died at the age of 84 from complications of pneumonia and heart disease, his family announced. Serving under President George W Bush from 2001 to 2009, Cheney was a driving force behind the US response to 9/11 and the Iraq war. A once-dominant conservative voice, he later broke with his party over Donald Trump, calling him: “a greater threat to our republic than any individual in history.” Cheney is survived by his wife Lynne, daughters Liz and Mary, and seven grandchildren.
