Acting police minister Firoz Cachalia told Parliament the Hawks are not aware of any further suspects allegedly identified by the six men convicted for whistleblower Babita Deokaran’s murder.

The response renews scrutiny of who ordered the hit. The six were sentenced in August 2023 after plea and sentence agreements, while investigators have been urged to keep pursuing the alleged mastermind and broader corruption links around the case.
