KZN Hawks boss accused of leaking SAPS secrets to aid Matlala

KwaZulu-Natal Hawks head Major General Lesetja Senona has been implicated at the Madlanga Commission in allegedly leaking confidential SAPS information to benefit businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala. Evidence before the inquiry claims Senona shared sensitive documents and helped shield a major police health services contract linked to Matlala.

WhatsApp records presented to the commission reportedly show Senona facilitating invoice payments and urging Matlala to challenge SAPS attempts to cancel the Medicare24 contract. Crime Intelligence boss Lieutenant General Dumisani Khumalo testified that Senona’s son had business ties to Matlala. Senona is expected to testify in January.
