The Madlanga Commission heard dramatic claims yesterday as businessman Brown Mogotsi alleged he worked as a crime intelligence agent and linked senior police and political figures to criminal networks. He further claimed a top KwaZulu-Natal police official was connected to the American Central Intelligence Agency.

The testimony follows earlier allegations by provincial commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, which prompted the inquiry. Civil society groups have warned that weak witness protection and self-serving accounts could undermine the commission’s credibility as it continues its work.
