Johannesburg drivers are being urged to avoid large parts of the city this weekend as sweeping G20 road restrictions come into force. The Nasrec precinct is under a hard lockdown, with Rand Show Road, Nasrec Road and Golden Highway closed or heavily restricted. Rolling freeway closures are expected on the N1, N3, N12, and M1 as delegations move between venues.

Sandton, Rosebank, Melrose, Fourways, and the OR Tambo corridor will also face intermittent shutdowns, with key routes such as Rivonia, Maude, Grayston, Oxford, and the R21 flagged for delays. Officials say motorists should avoid Nasrec entirely and add extra travel time across the province until Sunday night.
