Minister Waits on Lion-Breeding Report Amid Allegations of Industry Ties

Forestry, Fisheries and Environment Minister Willie Aucamp says he is waiting for a Cabinet process before acting on the controlled captive lion-breeding voluntary closure process.

Aucamp has denied allegations that he has ties to the industry. The department previously published a ministerial task team report on voluntary exit options in April 2024, after Cabinet approved its release and recommendations for implementation.
