Nick Reiner has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder over the deaths of his parents at their home, according to US prosecutors. Authorities say the victims were found dead and Reiner was arrested shortly afterwards.

Prosecutors allege special circumstances, meaning Reiner could face life without parole or the death penalty if convicted. A decision on seeking capital punishment has not yet been made.

Reiner’s parents were Rob and Michele Reiner, with his father being a renowned movie director, having helmed movies such as The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally…, Misery, and A Few Good Men.
